The rumors of the divorce between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have just been confirmed. Rumors started going wild as it was publicized that J Lo had finally filed for divorce on Aug 20, 2024, which happens to be exactly two years after their wedding.
She did this after months of people speculating on how their relationship was going and reports that the couple had not been seen together for 47 days, which indicated some kind of tension.
J Lo filed the divorce papers herself at Los Angeles County Superior Court, a process known as “pro per,” meaning she’s clearly going for a friendly agreement from Affleck, and this could certainly make him very contented.
At any rate, the above is an indication of attempts to avoid extensive court battles, by both parties—rather surprisingly with this divorce, no prenuptial agreement exists.
According to TMZ, there is no prenup signed between them, so all the money made during their marriage, which is almost everything, was community property and could be divided equally. This would include everything that Affleck did—the movies “Air” and “Hypnotic”—Lopez’s movies – “Shotgun Wedding,” “The Mother.”
So, divorce with no prenup has all people wondering about how the assets will be divided between these two, especially since the divorce would probably involve a lot of their money, as they are both among the richest in the world.
The financial implications run deeper into their combined assets, including their recently listed $68 million mansion that they purchased at over $60 million last year.
