Around 11:50 a.m., As the argument escalated, Leggett pulled a gun from his pocket

He shot Jamil Owais in the chest, fatally wounding him

Leggett fled the scene in his car, a Nissan Sentra, which was later identified through surveillance footage that captured the whole incident.

A 9 mm bullet casing was found in a candy box near the counter while the bullet was discovered near Owais’s body.

Witnesses described hearing a single gunshot as they arrived and found Owais already fatally wounded

Authorities tracked Leggett’s car through license plate readers and facial recognition software

They located him at an apartment on West Juneau Avenue, where they also found the firearm used in the shooting and shoes resembling those seen in the footage

Owais’s brother Mohammad said, “It’s something that’s hurting a lot of us”, and “To take someone’s life for no reason – that is unacceptable.”
