A Charlotte mother is facing criminal charges after allegedly assaulting two school administrators during a visit to Randolph Middle School earlier this month to discuss her daughter’s involvement in a fight.

Mariah Hector, 33, was taken into custody on May 5 after an alleged confrontation at Randolph Middle School. She faces charges of second-degree trespassing and assaulting a school employee. Court records cited by WBTV indicate she was released on bond shortly after her arrest.

According to an arrest affidavit, Hector and other family members arrived at Randolph Middle School after her daughter contacted her about a fight. While meeting with school staff, Hector reportedly became hostile and was asked to leave the premises. Instead, she allegedly pushed past an employee, shoved the school’s principal, Jennifer Schroeder, into a wall, and then grabbed Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Dean by the neck with both hands, attempting to choke her.

Police stated that Dean did not lose consciousness but had visible injuries on her neck and experienced difficulty breathing.

Following the incident, the school was placed on lockdown as officers took Hector into custody.

A second person, identified as 20-year-old Trinity Nixon, was also charged with second-degree trespassing. According to court records, Nixon entered the school after being told not to by a staff member. Once inside, she was accused of yelling and using profane language.

Two weeks later, on May 20, Principal Schroeder was placed on paid suspension. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District notified families that she would be “away from campus” but did not specify a reason for the suspension, citing personnel confidentiality.

It remains unclear whether the May 5 incident involving Hector played a role in Schroeder’s suspension.

The investigation into the altercation remains ongoing.
